Bio

Velma was born at Chester, SD the daughter of Jesse and Alice Roper Brown. She graduated from Franklin High School and Southern State Teacher's College in 1928. She taught rural schools for several years in Presho and Viewfield, SD. She married Melvin Larson June 1, 1930 at Rapid City. They lived on a farm south of Mitchell from 1950 to 1979 when they retired and moved into Mitchell. Survivors include her husband, one daughter Shirley, one son Don; three brothers, Rex, Max and Galand; eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three sisters and twin sons in infancy
