Bio
Sherwin "Sherm" James Watkins passed away November 3, 2011 at his home in Provo. Sherm was born May 15, 1944, in Provo, Utah to Carl Armstrong and Elma Mae James Watkins. He attended schools in Provo and received his Associates Degree from Stevens Henager College. Sherm married Karen Cox, they have 3 children: Todd James Watkins, Brian Scott Watkins (deceased) and Emily Watkins LaFollette. He worked for 20 years as the International Marketing Manager for General Refractories, and in recent years worked as a Real Estate Salesman for REMAX. He was a member of the Rotary Club, The Governor's Task Force on Juvenile Justice and the Anti-Violence Coordinating Council in Utah, as well as a member of Fight Crime, Invest in Kids a National organization helping the fight against juvenile crime. He enjoyed Golf, and was an avid tennis and BYU football fan. He was an active member of the LDS church and served in several callings including a current Temple Worker, Executive Secretary and Sunday School President. Sherm is survived by his wife Karen, two children, Todd James Watkins of Centreville, VA, and Emily Watkins LaFollette of Palmdale, CA, one brother, Carl A. Watkins Jr., and 6 grandchildren, Rebekah, Jonah and Nickolas Watkins and Kort, Lindsay and Melody LaFollette. He was preceded in death by his parents and son, Brian Scott Watkins. Funeral services will be Monday, November 7, 2011 at 11 a.m. in the Edgemont North Stake Center, 4560 N Canyon Road, Provo. Friends and family may call at a viewing Sunday evening November 6, 2011 from 6-8 p.m. at Walker Sanderson Funeral Home, 646 E 800 N, Orem or Monday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the church prior to services.
