Merced Sun-Star Merced, California · Thursday, June 29, 1972 CHOWCHILLA - Funeral services for Walter Smith Dingler, 73, who died Wednesday following a short illness, will be held Friday at 10 a.m. in the Worden Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in the Chowchilla District Cemetery. He was a native of Texas who moved here in 1943, working as a farm laborer. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Lealer Dingler whom he married in Oklahoma in 1923. They celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary in February. Other survivors include a son, Otis Dingler of Chowchilla; a daughter, Mrs. Ima Jean Jackson of Earlimart; two sisters, Mrs. Ava Petty and Mrs. Frankie Cope, both of Texas; a brother, William Dingler of Concord; and seven grandchildren.
