Bio
Gloria Ewert, 85, of Columbus, Nebraska, died Sunday, October 30, 2011, at Genoa Community Hospital LTC in Genoa, Nebraska. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, November 3 at 10:30 AM at St Bonaventure Catholic Church. Father Mike Keating will celebrate the Mass, and burial will be in Columbus Cemetery. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 5 PM to 7 PM at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Visitation will continue from 9:00 AM to 10:15 AM on Thursday at the funeral home. There will be a Vigil Service at 7:00 PM Wednesday at Gass Haney Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the Alzheimer's Association. Gloria was born on July 4, 1926, in Schuyler, Nebraska, to Dr. Louis and Ema (Suchy) Proskovec. She graduated from Kramer High School in 1944, and attended college at Mac Murray College in Illinois and the University of Colorado at Boulder. She was united in marriage to Adrian Ewert on March 31, 1948, in Denver. They made their home in Columbus where she was a housewife until 1970 when she went to work for Columbus High School as an office assistant until retiring in 1995. Gloria enjoyed playing bridge and doing ceramics. She was a member of St Bonaventure Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, Navy Mothers, and Columbus Public School Retired Personnel.
