Daniel J. Petter, 58, of West, passed away Sunday, Oct. 30, 2011, at his residence. A rosary will be recited 8 p.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption, with the Rev. Stephen Nesrsta, the Rev. Ed Karasek, Msgr. Henry Petter, and the Rev. Paul Hudson as celebrants. Burial will follow at St. Mary's Cemetery. Daniel was born in Hillsboro, Texas, to the late Victor and Martha (Kallus) Petter. He attended Abbott schools and graduated from Abbott High School in 1971. On June 30, 1979, he was united in marriage to Evelyn Nesrsta in Abbott. Dan worked as a carpenter most of his life. He also worked for West Furniture Company and Sykora Family Ford. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of the Assumption in West, and was also was a member of the K.J.T. Society #31, S.P.J.S.T. Lodge No. 66, RVOS in West, and St. Cecilia's Choir. Dan served as a Past President of the West Athletic Booster Club, Hilltop Water Board, and was also an assistant coach for his son Brian's baseball team. Dan enjoyed hunting, cooking, woodworking, spending time outdoors, listening to music, reading western books, and loved spending time with his family, especially his grandson. Survivors include his beloved wife of 32 years, Evelyn, of West; son, Brian Petter and wife, Kelciey, of West; daughters, Sarah Petter and special friend, Jason Elliott, of Waco, and Elizabeth Petter, of Kyle; grandson, Hunter Joseph Petter; his mother-in-law, Doris Nesrsta, of Abbott; brothers, Al Petter and wife, Donna, of Montgomery, and Robert Petter and wife, Betty, of Garland; sisters, Margaret "Margie" Petter, of Whitney, and Teresa Peterson and husband, Anthony, of Forney; brothers-in-law, Larry Nesrsta and wife, Joyce, and Edward Nesrsta, all of Hewitt, and the Rev.
