Joseph A. Chrismer, 83, died this morning at 1:58 o'clock at the home of his osn Paul J, Chrismer, Bonneauville. He had been in declining heath for the last two years and bed fast for the last week. A native of Bonneauville, he was the son of the late John E. and Catherine Codori Chrismer. He had resided in Adams County all of his life with the exception of six years when he was employed as a railroad man at Niagara Falls. He was a cigarmaker for 40 years and later worked for the Gettysburg Furniture Company, the M.A. Hartley Co. and Beaudin Shoe Co. of Hanover. He had retired two years ago. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Bonneauville, the Holy Name Society of that church and the Bonneauville Fire Co. His wife the former Mary Catherine Collard, died in May, 1952. Surviving are six children; Paul J. Chrismer, Mrs. Earl Orndorff and Bernard Chrismer, all of Bonneauville, Earl Chrismer, Hanover; John Chrismer, Gettysburg and Mrs Robert Claybaugh, Gettysburg. Also surviving are 40 grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and a sister, Miss Regina Chrismer, Baltimore. Funeral services Friday morning meeting at the Bender Funeral Home at 8 o'clock followed by a Requiem Mass at 9 o'clock in St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Bonneauville, with the Rev.Fr. Leo Krichten officiating. Burial in the church cemetery. Obit in the Gettysburg Times Tuesday, July 7, 1959.
