Fay Louise McConnell passed away at Memorial Hermann Hospital this Wednesday morning, October 18 in the presence of loved ones. She had suffered a massive stroke just a few days previous to her passing. Fay was born on 3 January 1929 in Port Arthur Texas, and was the second of 4 siblings. She was brought up in Port Aurthur under the care of her mother Fay Ada Barnett, and her father Arnold Lothair Barnett, an oil tanker captain. She is survived by her sister Glenda Ray Fudge, of Wichita Falls, Texas. Fay mothered four children with her first husband Charles Wayne Heinen, and settled in Angleton about the year 1960. She married her second husband, John Willis McConnell in 1968, with whom she raised her fifth child. She is preceded in death by her first-born son, Roger Wayne Heinen, of Bandera Texas who passed away in 2001, and her second husband who passed away in 1990. She is survived by her sons Charles Craig Heinen of Achorage Alaska, Michael Lothair Heinen of West Columbia, Rhonda Fay Johnson of Bandera, and Patrick O'toole McConnell of San Diego California. She is survived by numerous grandchildren on both the Heinen and McConnell branch of the family. Regardless of the blood ties, she held full title of mother and grandmother by all. Fay was a dedicated mother who endured great hardships to ensure her children were provided with abundant love and compassion. She was greatly admired by everyone she came in contact with. Fay exhibited a selflessness in her character that was rare, and inspired goodness. She taught us a great lesson from her outgoing character, and her love of people. She kept her guard down, but understood that to be hurt once in a while is a fair trade for receiving greater love from the whole community. A public viewing will be held from 3 to 5PM this Sunday at Palms Funeral Home. A Funeral service will be held on Monday at 2:00 PM at Palms, and will be officiated by Michael Hammonds of the Angleton First Assembly of God.
