Bio

Mrs. Martha Eunice Harrison Ness: A native of Escambia County, AL and a long time resident of Fairhope, died at a local health care facility, August 15, 2000. Mrs. Ness was a retired teacher. She received her teacher certificate at the Daphne Normal School, then going on to Troy State University for her B.S. Degree and to the University of Alabama where she received her Master's degree in Elementary School Education. She began her teaching career in 1923 in Josephine, AL. She taught in the Fairhope Elementary School System for many years. She also taught in Montgomery County, Maryland. She was a long time member of the Fairhope United Methodist Church and one of the Ladies Circle of the Church. She was a 5000-hour member of the Thomas Hospital Volunteers. She was a member of the Retired Teachers of Baldwin County. She is survived by eight nieces, Ida Ruth B. Brantley, Kathleen B. Raines, Polly H. Gregorius, and Camilla H. Butler, all of Daphne, AL, Jewell N. Turner and Lois N. Glass of Mobile, AL; June B. Pruitt of Montrose, AL, and Patsy N. Lindsey of Fairhope, AL. She is also survived by three nephews, Morris L. Nelson of Fairhope, AL, Angelo Bertagnolli of Ashford, AL, and Marvin E. Harrison of Spartanburg, SC. Several great- nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, August 16, 2000 fro m Bayview Funeral Home, Fairhope, at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Old Daphne Methodist Church Museum, P.O. Box 847, Daphne, AL 36526 or to Thomas Hospital, Fairhope, AL, or a memorial of your choice. Funeral arrangements by BAYVIEW FUNERAL HOME, Fairhope, AL.
