Bio

On October 18, 2011, Jessie Lee Dickerson passed away and returned home to Jesus. She was 88 years old. Jessie Lee was born on July 21, 1923 in Madill, Oklahoma. As a child, she worked on the family farm until she left home at the age of 16 to work in a cotton mill in McKinney, Texas. During WWII, she served her country as a Rosie the Riveter assembling aircraft wings for North American Aviation in Texas. Jessie was a strong, independent woman who moved to California and eventually settled in Modesto where she resided for 43 years. She lived out the rest of her years taking care of her home and family. Her inspiration and faith were immeasurable. She taught her family the importance of faith and the belief in God. She will be greatly missed and always in our prayers. She is survived by two children, Patricia Ward and Todd Dickerson, son-in-law Ronald Ward; Grandchildren, Janinne Ward, Sandra Ward, Joshua Dickerson and Jessica Dickerson; two Great Grandchildren, Ronald Green and Amanda Green; and brothers Albert James Glover and Ernest Glover. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Huston Otto Dickerson and her dearly loved sister Catherine Faulk and brother Clarence Glover. (John 11, 25-17) As for me I have fond memories of Jessie. In the early 60's Karen, her step daughter, Jessie and I rode a bus from Modesto to Milpitas. I stayed with Dick, Jessie and Karen for 2 weeks. I had a great time and I really got to know her. When they moved back to Modesto I lived next door to some rentals that Dick owned. I had wonderful visit with her.
