MOFFITT DIES AT 98; RITES SLATED---Mrs. Evelyn Cox Moffitt, 2924 14th east, mother of the former superintendent of Provo City Schools, died Friday of natural causes in a Salt lake City hospital. She was 98 years old. Mrs. Moffitt was born December 8, 1866, in Manti, to Fredric Walter and Cordelia Morley Cox. She married John W. Moffitt in the Manti Temple, Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, December 11, 1889. Mr. Moffitt died in 1926. Mrs. Moffitt served as a ward Relief Society president for many years and was Relief Society president of Duchesne Stake for 17 years. In her later years she continued to do temple work and attend Relief Society and Sunday School regularly. The last few years of her life were spent in the home of a married daughter, Mrs. Lillis Wilkins, Salt Lake City. A son, Dr. John Clifton Moffitt, is a former superintendent of Provo City schools and is presently treasurer of the National Congress of Parents and Teachers. Mrs. Moffitt was the mother of five children, three of whom are still living: Dr. Moffitt, Mrs. Wilkins and Mrs. Oneta Fortie, Salt Lake City. Her survivors also include 19 grandchildren, 62 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Thursday noon in the Imperial Second Ward chapel, 1560 Atkin Ave. (2830 South). Friends may call at 260 E. South Temple Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and one hour prior to the services Thursday at the chapel. Burial will be in Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park.
