C. Jack Bean (1928 - 2011) C. Jack Bean passed away Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011, in Fort Worth. Funeral: 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at North Richland Hills Baptist Church. Interment: Greenwood Memorial Park. Memorials: In lieu of flowers, gifts to Cornerstone Assistance Network or North Richland Hills Baptist Church building fund are appreciated. Jack was born Feb. 11, 1928 in Fort Worth. Jack's life was amazingly rich in vitality and diversity. As a 7-year-old boy, he befriended Will Rogers and appeared in "Our Gang" movies. He was a natural, lifelong entrepreneur. He attended TCU and was an avid Frog fan. He served honorably in the U.S. Army and Air Force. Jack founded and operated Bean Bag and Box Co. until its sale in 1982. He served as CEO and chairman of Haltom State Bank and chairman of Surety Capital Corp. He was a member of the boards of directors of Donite Corp. and Dallas Fire Insurance Co. Jack was a licensed pilot, 50-year sailor at Fort Worth Boat Club, inventor and recipient of a U.S. patent. Jack served on boards for JPS, War on Poverty and Birdville ISD. He was a Special Texas Ranger, founding organizer of the Haltom-Richland Chamber of Commerce and county treasurer. In recent years, Jack enjoyed traveling abroad, treasured time with friends, and had many hobbies. He was passionate about baking bread and won a blue ribbon at the Texas State Fair. He was a member of Colonial Country Club and North Richland Hills Baptist Church. A true people-person, Jack will be remembered for his love of working with others, generosity, as a captivating story teller, his boundless energy, eternal optimism and seeing the best in every situation and person. Jack was preceded in death by his parents, Earl and Floy Bean, and his wife, Lorene Bean. Survivors: Wife of 15 years, Trish Bean; daughter, Frances Janezic and husband, Mark; sons, Mike Bean and wife, Liz, and Vaughan Bean; stepsons, Mike Cooke and wife, Pam, and Mark Cooke and wife, Christi; grandchildren, Jack Janezic, Jonathan Bean and wife, Jen, Forest Ivey and wife, K.K., Shawn and Jennifer Bean, Laura and Matt Thornton, Lauren, Annie, Connor and Carleigh Cooke; and great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jessica and Luke Bean.
