THOMAS JEFFERSON MORGAN, M.D. aka TJ, Jeff, Thos. J b. 1833 Meriwether Co., GA; d. 1908 Union Co., ARk Various census records report his occupations as farmer, teacher, physician. Son of Hiram F Morgan 1806-1856 and Elizabeth Haisten 1810-1853. Both parents born and died in Georgia, USA. Family stories state that T.J. Morgan was a colonel in the civil war. However, building upon previous research by Ola Pearce Davis and Dorothy Davis Vanderbilt, my research shows that the Arkansan COL. Thos. Jeff. Morgan was the son of John and Mary Ann (Vauhgn) Morgan and resided most of his life in Independence, Co (North Arkansas)...Our subject here, Dr. T.J. Morgan also fought in the civil war for the confederacy. He entered as a Private but may have risen to 1st Lt...After emigrating from Georgia, "Our" T.J. resided in Southern Arkansas, then Northern Louisiana, then back to Southern Arkansas. Thomas Jefferson Morgan, MD married on 06 DEC 1856 to his first cousin Sarah Jane Morgan (1832-1900), dau. of William J Morgan (1803-1890) & Henrietta Bridges (1812-1850). T.J. & Sarah's 1st 5 children born in ARk,their last 2 children born in Louisiana: *William Asa b.1857 ARk- d.1876 *Hiram Jefferson b.1859 died sometime between 1863-1870 *Frances Jane Selma b.1861 ARk...m.
