Bio
It becomes our painful duty to record the death of our highly esteem-ed and beloved brother Jonathon Halcomb . He was born in June, 1794, joined the Baptist Church in 1812; ordained as a Minister of the Gospel in 1813; and chosen Moderator of Little Vine Association in 1817, which office he filled to the satisfaction of his brethren to the time of his death, which occurred on the 8th day of April, 1874. Brother Halcomb was a faithful Minister – ever contending for the Faith as it was delivered unto the saints, and firmly opposing all the institutions of men. We feel the loss to be great, but are assured that, it is his gain. Thus has passed from our midst a brother, whose place is not easily filled. A great man has fallen in Israel. We feel to sympathize with his wife, our aged sister, and his children and numerous relatives. But let us be still and know that it is the Lord, who will do right; and let us all endeavor to follow his examples of virtue and humbleness.
