Mary Ann Schott, 76, of Osceola, passed away Oct. 14, 2011 at Annie Jeffrey Memorial County Health Center in Osceola. Mary Ann was born June 6, 1935 to Charles and Mary (Robak) Syslo in Columbus. Mary Ann attended District 34 country school and graduated from Fullerton High School in 1952. She then went to work for Heimann Lumber Company in Columbus. Mary Ann then returned home to care for her mother until her passing. On Sept. 12, 1959 she was united in marriage to John (Jack) Schott at St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Krakow. To this union, four children were born. The family lived northeast of Osceola where Jack farmed. Mary Ann began working at Osceola Public Schools as an aide in the kitchen. She then worked at the Corner Stop in Osceola and Mickey's Variety Store before returning to work at the school. She was member of St. Vincent's Catholic Church, St. Vincent's Altar Society where she served as a past officer for many years. She was a CCD teacher, a member of the Friendly Neighbor's Club, Ryan Hill Country Club and was on the activities committee in the 1970s. She was a volunteer at the AJ Thrift Store. She participated in Bridge Club as well as several other card clubs. She was a member of the Osceola Legion Auxiliary. She was also a Nebraska Huskers fan. She enjoyed attending her kids', and in later years, her grandkids' activities. Throughout the years, she was a devoted wife, a caring mother and grandmother. Survivors include her children, son John (Candy) Schott of Omaha; three daughters, Carmen (Randy) Johnson of Osceola, Carla (Alan) Rohwer of Elkhorn and Mary Alice Schott of Lincoln; five grandchildren; two brothers, Tom (Margie) Syslo of Fullerton and Charles (Mary Celestine) Syslo of Omaha; and a host of other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by: husband, Jack, who passed away May 26, 2005; parents, Charles and Mary Syslo; sisters, Julia Paprocki and Angeline Philiotis and infant twins, Mary and Ann Syslo; brothers, Louis, Henry, John and Benny Syslo.
