Virginia R. Ping, 77, of Sioux City, died Friday, November 2, 2001 at a Sioux City care center following a 40 year battle with rheumatoid arthritis. Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Larking Northside Funeral Home with Glen E. Houts Jr., Hospice of Siouxland chaplain officiating. The body will be cremated. Visitation will be noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home. Mrs. Ping was born Feb 19, 1924, in Denison, Iowa, the daughter of William and Olive Wingfield. She graduated from Central Hight School in Sioux City in 1942. She married Jack Holloway Sr. in 1943 in Sioux City. He was killed in action in World War II. She married Arthur Jacobs in 1947 in Sioux City. He died in 1953 from complications from cancer. She married Norman J. Ping on September 20, 1960, in Sioux City. She lived most of her life in the Sioux City area. She was a loving mother and wife. She was of the Presbyterian Faith. Survivors include her husband; seven sons, Jack Holloway and his wife, Deanna, Tim Jacobs and Randy Jacobs, all of Sioux City, Doug Jacobs and his wife Laurie, of Sturgis, S.D., Jim Jacobs of Idaho, and Perry Ping and his wife Carolyn, of Plano, Texas; a daughter and her husband, Jennifer and Robert Skime of Coon Rapids, Minn; a brother and his wife, William and Louise Wingfield of Sioux City; 23 grandchildren; and 15 great great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents. Memorials in her name may be directed to Hospice of Siouxland. Her mother married 3 times
