Bio

Helen Vrana Dlabaj, 93, passed away on Wednesday, September 21, 2011 in Legend Oaks Rehabilitation Center of Ennis. She was born on May 27, 1918 in Ennis, Texas to Josef A. and Aloisie (Parolek) Vrana. She grew up in Ennis and attended school there. She married Frank J. Dlabaj, Jr. on October 10, 1939 and they made their home in Ennis. She was a member of St. John Catholic Church, KJZT #16 and RVOS. Helen had a gentle, loving manner that reached beyond her family to her relatives and friends. She had a great love for animals, especially her favorite hens. She had a great faith in our Lord and the Blessed Mother Mary. She is survived by six sons: Milton and Joy Dlabaj of Streetman, Texas, Jerry and Loretta Dlabaj, Frankie Dlabaj, David L. Dlabaj, Raymond Dlabaj and Billy and Lollie Dlabaj all of Ennis; four daughters: Geraldine Hanson, Margie Hammonds, Helen and Jerry Yarbrough and Mary Ann and Westley Hager all of Ennis; twenty-four grandchildren: thirty-three great-grandchildren: three great-great grandchildren along with numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Dlabaj, Jr. in 1983, two sons-in-law, Walter Hanson and Robert Hammonds, one brother, four sisters and three grandchildren. Visitation will be on Friday, September 23, 2011 from 6 until 8 p.m., with the Rosary at 7 p.m. in the J.E. Keever Mortuary Chapel of Ennis. Mass of the Christian Burial will take place on Saturday, September 24, 2011 at 10 a.m. at St. John Catholic Church of Ennis with Father John J. Dick as celebrant. Pallbearers will be Jerry Dlabaj, Jr., Ernest Dlabaj, Mark Shofner, Jeffrey Dlabaj, Ronald Hammonds, Westley Hager and Charlie Tapia. Interment will follow at St. Joseph Cemetery under the direction of J.E. Keever Mortuary, Inc. Memorials can be made in Helen's name to St. Joseph Cemetery or to the Family First Hospice, who took such excellent loving care of her.
