"Jack" McBrayer born in Lorena, Texas, moved to Ft. Worth Texas early and drove a street car. Later married Minerva Jane Ashenhust of Lorena and they moved to Ft. Worth around 1900, where they bought a "lot" and Jack had a small old mule barn moved to the lot, and bought lumber and built a house around the little mule barn (which became the dining room). The Jack McBrayer family lived in that house on Lake Street (later named North Houston St.) from around 1900 until their daughter Ruby McBrayer Cotton sold the house and moved to the east side about 1957. Jack worked as a meat cutter at the Swift & Co. Packing plant on the north side, later he owned a "service station" for automobiles about a block west of North Main Street. He was a member of many lodges and fraternal organizations.
