Opal A. Ross 1902 – 1996 Opal A. Ross, 93, of St. Lawrence, died Monday, Nov. 18, 1996 at Prairie Good Samaritan Center in Miller. The funeral was held Friday, Nov. 22 at the St. Lawrence Community Church in St. Lawrence, with the Rev. Leslie Madison and the Rev. Lee Smith officiating. Burial was in the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Opal Anita Dehart was born November 24, 1902 to Ora and Ida (May) Dehart in Bruce, Ill. Her family moved to South Dakota in 1918. She lived in the St. Lawrence area until the last ten years, when she lived with her daughters. She married Glen Ross on May 18, 1922 in St. Lawrence. They lived in St. Lawrence until her husband's death. She was a charter member of the St. Lawrence Community Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years. She is survived by four daughters, Althea Augspurger of Miller, Florence (Leslie) Madison of Hot Springs, Helen (Revy) Wilbourne of corona, Calif., Kathryn (George) Jacobson of Blaine, Minn.; one son, Ritchie Ross of Miller; one sister, Delorous Muth of Sturgis; 17 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Goldie Dehart in 1924; her husband in 1976; son-in-law Wendell Augspurger in 1982; son Allen in 1989; and brother-in-law George Muth in 1990. Pallbearers were George Melber, Wilbur Fremark, Brice Clegg, David Lanz, Kenny VanZee and Leser Becker.
