BERTHA SODOLAK KENNEDY, 78, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother, passed away on Wednesday, April 3, 2002 following a lengthy illness with her family and friends at her side. Mrs. Kennedy was a member of St. Francis De Sales Catholic Church for thirty-eight years and was a life member of the Catholic Daughters of Texas. She was an avid bridge player and a member of the Texas Coastal Airstream Club. She is survived by her husband of fifty-one years, Durward Kennedy; daughters, Karen Kennedy Waters and husband Peyton D. Waters, Jr. of Houston and Donna Kennedy Myrick and husband Jerry D. Myrick of Austin, TX; grandchildren, Audrey Waters Loweth and husband, Justin I. Loweth of Houston, Peyton D. Waters III of Houston, Lauren Myrick and Paige Myrick of Austin, TX; sister, Irene Blazek and husband Lawrence Blazek of Sealy, TX. The family will be present to receive friends from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m., Friday, April 5, 2002 in the Chapel of J.B. Earthman - Tanglewood Funeral Directors. The Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, April 6, 2002 at St. Mary's Catholic Church, FM 1458, Frydek, Texas. Rite of Committal will follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Frydek, Texas. Serving as pallbearers will be David Solodak, Jim Owens, Larry Blazek, Michael Solodak, William Solodak, Jr., and Justin I. Loweth. For those desiring, memorials may be made in Mrs. Kennedy's name to St. Agnes Academy, 9000 Bellaire, Houston, Texas 77036; St. Thomas High School, 4500 Memorial Drive, Houston, Texas 77007; or Vitas Hospice.
