Son of Clarence & Leona Woodley Stephen Carroll Rene "Steve" Stephen, 83 of Marion, died Sunday, October 02, 2011 at Willow Gardens Care Center. Carroll was born February 25, 1928 in Charles City, the son of Clarence and Leona (Woodley) Stephen. Carroll graduated from Grundy Center High School, and later attended Coe College and the University of Iowa. He served in the United States Army Air Corps. He married Dorothy Mae Pavel on September 30, 1950 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. Steve was a salesman for many years. He was involved with many community organizations such as Scottish American Military Society, American Legion, Metro Veterans Council, Sons of the Union Veterans of Civil War, Central Region of the Allied Orders of the GAR serving as Commander. Steve is survived by his children, Donald Stephen of Kalispell, Montana, Carole Stephen and James (Nancy) Stephen both of Marion, Jeffrey Stephen and David (Margi) Stephen both of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dorothy who died January 15, 2005.
