Obituary of Pauline Daugherty Pauline D. Daugherty, 94, passed away Wednesday, July 23, 2014, at the Kavanagh House in Des Moines, under the care of Hospice. Funeral services for Pauline will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, July 26, 2014, at the Pence ~ Reese Funeral Home in Newton, with Pastor John Patterson conducting the services. A visitation with the family will be held at the funeral home, Saturday, an hour prior to the services. In lieu of flowers memorials in Pauline’s name are being designated to Community Heights Alliance Church, Hospice or Jasper County Animal Rescue League. Burial will be in the Newton Union Cemetery. Pauline, the daughter of Charley L. and Mary Esther (Louthan) Davis, was born November 7, 1919, in Decatur County, Iowa. She was a graduate of the Osceola Senior High, Class of 1938, and had received Normal Training to teach school. She had lived in Osceola and Des Moines, prior to moving to Newton in 1943. Pauline was employed and later retired as a Supervisor, from Newton Manufacturing Company. On October 18, 1939, Pauline was united in marriage with Elmer Andrew Daugherty in Des Moines. She devoted her life to her family, and was a member of the Community Heights Alliance Church in Newton, the 50/50 Club and 25 year Club at Newton Manufacturing. Pauline was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Elmer on Feb. 8, 2001; six sisters; and four brothers. Those left to honor Pauline’s memory include her daughter Rogene “Genie” Garland of Council Bluffs; her sons: Edwin Daugherty (Susan) of Council Bluffs and Steven Daugherty (Terry) of Urbandale; her four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; and her many friends.
