Bio

David Joseph "Dave" Janovec, 60, of Lincoln, formerly of the Chapman and Grand Island area, died Saturday, Oct. 1, 2011, in Atlanta, Georgia, due to a trucking accident. Dave was born on May 19, 1951, in Washington, D.C. and adopted into the loving family of Joseph V. and Marcelline "Marcy" A. (Zoucha) Janovec. Those left to cherish his memory are: children Jennifer and Matt Myers of Archer and Alison and Kirk Feeney of Hastings; brother and sister-in-law, Dennis and Kathy Janovec of Chapman; sister, Rita Kraning of Papillion; grandchildren, Cody, Paxton and Brady Myers and Kieren and Gabby Feeney; and special friend, Gail Benner of Texas. Dave grew up in the Chapman area and graduated from Grand Island Central Catholic High School in 1969; and received his degree from the University of Nebraska in Lincoln in 1974. On March 30, 1974, Dave was united in marriage to Cheryl Shrewsbury. After college, Dave moved to Chapman and farmed with family. In April 7, 2001, he was married to Laurie Magnuson. At the time of his death, he lived in Lincoln and was employed by Crete Carriers. Dave was a member of Alpha Gamma Ro Fraternity at UNL and was involved in 4-H as a member and as a leader. His true passion was for his children and grandchildren. He was always there to support them in their activities. He couldn't wait to share all of their accomplishments with the many friends he cherished in life. Dave will best be remembered by his on- the-go personality, his ability to talk to anyone, and a cup of coffee in his hand. He always held a special place in his heart for life in the country. Dave was preceded in death by his parents and a brother-in-law, Ralph Kraning. Interment was in the Central City Cemetery, Central City, NE.
