Vennie grew up near Colon and attended a country school south of town and high school in Colon. He farmed with his father for several years. On March 8, 1943, he married Rose Pacula at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston, NE. They lived on their farm north of Colon until moving into Colon in 1966. Vennie was a lifelong farmer and besides raising crops, he fed cattle and hogs. Vennie loved all his grandchildren and the family get togethers. He enjoyed coming out to the farm at 3:30 pm every day for "pop time". He liked his IHC tractors and he knew about everything there was to know about them. He liked going to antique tractor shows, reading and polka music. He could play the button accordion and in his younger days enjoyed playing the clarinet. On September 29, 2011 Vennie passed away at A.J. Merrick Manor in Fremont, Nebraska at the age of 94 years. He was a lifelong parishioner at St. Joseph Catholic Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus Council #1833, the Saunders County Livestock Feeders Association, the Colon Volunteer Fire Department and a past member of the NFO. Vennie is survived by his wife Rose; son and daughter in law Richard and Alice Meduna, all of Colon; grandchildren, William (Becky) Meduna, Colon, Dr. Mary Meduna, Chicago, IL, Susan (Allen) Chohon, Wahoo, NE; great grandchildren, Christopher, Sarah, Anna, Isaac, Paul, Max, Joe, Lena and Gabriel Meduna, John, Alicia, Therese, Philip, Monica, Grace, Peter and James Chohan; sister Marie Bouc, Colon; nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by infant grandson Mark J. Meduna, great grandson Francis Luke Meduna, sister Blanche Booth.
