Bio

Son of Peter & Mary Tressler Starr. He married Mary Louisa Melcher on 8-17-1890. 7 children were born, two dying in infancy, Louie in 1900 and Jesse in 1927. Those surviving are Laura Hergott of Gilead, Will of Chester, Frank W. of Hebron, Arthur E. of Powell and Leora Traeger of Kenesaw.. Obit found in Alex. Argus dated 11-28-1957. ------------------------- William Frank Starr, son of Peter and Mary Tressler Starr, was born in Atchison County, Missouri, on January 6, 1868. The family moved to Jefferson County in April, 1870. On August 17, 1890, he married Mary Louisa Melcher, in her parent's home near Gilead. They celebrated their Golden Wedding Anniversary in 1940. They lived on the same farm about 5 1/2 miles from Alexandria for over 53 years, until they moved to Fairbury on December 6, 1943. There were seven children, five survive. Laura, Mrs. August Hergott, Gilead; Will H. of Chester; Frank W. of Hebron; Arthur E., Powell; Leora Mrs Carl Traeger, Kenesaw. Louie died in infancy in 1900 and Jesse died in 1927. There are 11 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. He joined the Presbyterian Church in Alexandria when 14 years of age. He was elected an elder in August 20, 1908. He died on Nov. 11, 1957. The service was conducted in the Presbyterian Church in Alexandria, Thursday, Nov. 14 at 2 p.m. by the Rev. Robert W. Jones of Fairbury. The burial was in the Alexandria Cemetery. Six grandsons were pall bearers: Ivan Sweeney, Dale Starr, Wilford Hergott, LaVern Engel, Keith Starr, Donald Traeger. Traum's Funeral Home in charge. Chester Herald, unknown date
