Bio
Hazel Buchanan Marek, 80, passed away Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011. She was born in Richmond, Va., and had resided in Texas since 1952. She retired after 50 years in the nursing profession. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always loved visiting her home in Meadowview, Va., which held a special place in her heart. Ms. Marek is survived by her three daughters: Linda Pryor and husband, Randy, of Georgetown, Texas; Amanda Shipman and husband, Floyd, of Georgetown; and Ann King of Decatur, Texas; her sister, Jean Dennis of Grundy, Va.; her brother, Bob Buchanan of Berkeley, Calif.; her grandchildren, Erin Pryor, Ryan Pryor, Peyton Shipman, Tisha Shipman, Brad Ochs, and Taylor King Lawson; and great-grandchildren, Jacob Lloyd, Ashton Shipman and Kara Ochs. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank I. Marek; her father and mother, Ben K. and Hazel W. Buchanan; and her brother, Ben K. Buchanan III. A graveside service will be held Sunday, Sept. 25, 2011, at 2 p.m. at the Buchanan Family Cemetery in Glade Spring, Va. The family wishes to thank the kind nurses and aides at Will-O-Bell Nursing Home in Bartlett, Texas; Vista Care Hospice of Temple, Texas; and all friends and neighbors for their help and prayers
