BERTHA AGNES WHINERY BROWN SUTTER LANINGHAM Bertha was the daughter of: Charles Lee Whinery and Frances Loretta Speer Whinery. She was born in Tulsa, either Creek or Osage County, Oklahoma. Her mother died from stomach cancer when she was about 8 yrs old and she was raised by her grandmother, Mary Louise Speer. Bertha married Jeff Brown (Thomas J. Brown) about 1915 in Texas. They had four children: 1. Bertha "Mae" Brown (Laningham) b. 24 Nov 1916 Oletha, Limestone Co., Tx d. 21 May 2001 Buffalo, Leon Co., Tx Buried in the Buffalo, Leon Co, Tx Cemetery 2. Jesse Floyd Brown b. 10 Mar 1918 Latexo, Houston Co., Tx d. 15 May 1988 Gregg County, Texas Died of Brain Cancer 3. Victor William Brown, Sr. b. 23 May 1922 d. 27 June 2007 Texas City, Galveston Co., Tx. 4. Garland Lee Brown b. 1924 d. When he was abt 8 months old. Cause: Blood Poisoning. Dr. lanced a boil on his neck with a dirty knife. He is buried at Franklin,Robertson Co., Texas. She divorced Jeff Brown. She married William "Bill" Sutter who was much, much older than she was. They had one child: 5. Mary Dorothy Louise Sutter (Mudd) b. 1926 Franklin, Robertson Co., Texas William Sutter died from pneumonia. She married Ira Benjamin Laningham, Sr. 06 October 1928 Oletha, Limestone County, Texas. They had four children: 6.
