Blackwell Journal-Tribune Blackwell, Oklahoma Sunday, November 13, 1927 page 9 Death Roy Lewis Voelzke, the 14 year old son of Mr. and Mrs. John Voelzke, was born April 4, 1913, and departed this life Monday, November 10. His death was caused by a horse kicking him on the inside of the leg, just above the knee. The accident happened Thursday afternoon while he was riding a horse and driving horses out of a field. One of the horses being driven kicked at the horse he was riding and struck his leg. The doctor thought pneumonia set in Monday afternoon or that a blood clot had gone to the brain; he was delirious three days. He leaves to survive him his parents, two sisters, Marion and Mrs. A.A. Woods, of Pueblo, Colo., two brothers, Fred and Robert Voelzke, of Ponca City, an aged grandfather, August Voelzke of Chicago, Ill., one grandmother, Mrs. Mary Hasenbeck of Elgin, Okla., two nieces and one nephew. Funeral services were conducted at the Longwood Baptist church Thursday afternoon, November 10, at 3 o'clock, by Mrs. H.G. Whittaker of Ponca City. Mr. Anderson sang a solo "Shepherd of the Fold." The Oak View Women's club sang "Rock of Ages," and "Meet Me There." Interment was made in the Longwood cemetery. Relatives who were here to attend the funeral services were: Mr. and Mrs. A.A. Woods and family of Pueblo, Colo., (the latter is a sister of the deceased), Mrs. Charles Eads, an aunt, of Elgin, Okla., three cousins, Gladys, Feddie, Harry Feddie, R.E. Kolker, all of Elgin, Okla.
