Mrs. Vannie Smith, wife of Net Smith, former resident of Valley township, five miles south of this city, passed away Wednesday evening of last week [Jan. 10], very suddenly at her home in Goodland at the advanced age of only a few days of 94 years. ..Mrs. Smith was a sister of the late Frances Merrifield of this place and an aunt of Miss Orpha Merrifield. ..Funeral services were held Saturday at 10 a.m. at Goodland, after which the body was returned here where graveside services were held at 4 p.m. and interment made in Olive Branch cemetery, at the side of her husband. source: Kensington Mirror, Jan. 18, 1962 This info provided by: Ronald McCartney (#47515388)
