Served in the Army Air Force during World War II. Son of Lovell and Lena Custer-Coats. Preceded in death by his son, Harry "Buddy" Coats; brother, Ray Coats; parents; and three brothers-in-law, Lyman Flannigan, Wallace Hobbs and Albert Linder.
