Walter Ervin Houtzer married first to Catherine Elizabeth Thornhill after the 1940 census and had 3 children, 2 daughters alive at this time. He is an only child of Ervin and Inez Owens (f. H. Walter Owen of Houston, TX), married 1919 in Houston, divorced abt 1927 and live apart 1923-7, the couple are together in 1920 Houston city directory at 407 Milby which is the Owen family home; his father, Erwin, returned to Ft Wayne, Indiana, found in 1923 city directory, will remarry 1928. Inez is found in Houston city directory as "Mrs" in 1927 directory, working at Ford Motor Co., living at 318 Hutcheson. Walter lives in Texas all his life, 1920 & '30 census not found, 1940 directory, single Walter lives at 5139 Leeland Ave., no listing for Inez, did she remarry?, no other Houtzer’s. 1940 at 317 Eastwood Ave, Houston, TX, 18 yo Walter lives with Uncle John Hargrove Swope and his mother’s sister, Texas Vista, and g-mother Lelah Owens, and works as a machinist helper, eventually he worked for W.W.
