From The Comanche Chief newspaper, dated 10 April 1959: Death Claims Mrs. J.R. Biggs: Mrs. J.R. Biggs, 76, N. Austin St., long time resident of Comanche County, died Friday, April 3 in a local hospital, following an extended illness. Funeral services for Mrs. Biggs were held Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Comanche Church of Christ, of which she was a member. Officiating was Minister Clarence Bryant assisted by Minister T.P. McFerrin. Interment was in the Oakwood Cemetery, with Oak Lawn Funeral Home in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Biggs grandsons served as pallbearers. Mrs. Biggs, the former Ida Martha Ripley, was born May 1, 1882, in Delta County, Texas. She was the daughter of the late John and Sarah Ripley. She moved with her parents to Comanche County when she was a child. She was married July 7, 1901 (in Delta County, Texas), to J.R. Biggs, who survives. They were the parents of seven children, three sons and four daughters. One daughter, Mrs. Ruth Stafford, passed away several years ago. Mrs. Biggs is survived by her husband; three sons, Clarence, Charlie and Oris Biggs of Comanche; Three daughters, Mrs. Doyle Fagan of Abilene, Mrs. L.H. Sain of Grandview, and Mrs. Leoma Clark of Abilene; thirteen grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; three brothers, Lester, Ike and Henry Ripley, and two sisters, Mrs. Ed Green and Mrs. Claud Kemp, all of Comanche.
