Bio
Josef (Joseph) was the son of John and Ann Stodola Svoboda born in St Catharina Bohemia. He immigrated to the United States in 1879. On the 8th of March 1886 he married Mary Novotny. Together they raised 11 children. Emil, John, Emma, Rose, Martin, Julia, Mary, Anna, Joseph, Agnes, Victoria and James. By 1920 Mary was institutionalized at the State Hospital in Norfork Ne. and Joseph had divorced her. Mary remained in the hospital until her death in 1934. Joseph farmed 160 acres 4 miles north of Schuyler. 120 acres of section 10 and 40 acres of section 11 previously owned by Frank J. Lodl.
