THE PARIS NEWS, Sep 14, 2011, page 3. - Syble Starrett Summers, 91, of Garland, passed from this life to life eternal on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at the home of her brother, Doyle, in Birthright. Graveside services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, 2011, in Reilly Springs Cemetery with the Rev. Eric Starrett officiating. The family is to receive friends from 9 to 10 a.m. Thursday at West Oaks Funeral Home in Sulphur Springs, then will proceed to the cemetery for the service. Syble was born June 15, 1920, in Reilly Springs, the first of seven children born to Roy Elmer and Cecil Williams Starrett. She attended Reilly Springs schools, then moved to Garland in 1942, where she worked for the Gaylord Corporation, later retiring from the company, which became Crown-Zellerbach Corp. She was a member of Marsh Lane Baptist Church in Garland. Having never had children, she was the favored "Auntie" to her nieces and nephews, and a stalwart and faithful leader in her family. She loved to tend to her flowers and landscaping, and was a wonderful cook. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Roy Herschel "Buster" Starrett and James W. "J" Starrett; a sister, Bobbie McKissick; by one niece, Ashley Mayfield; two nephews, Jimmy Wellborn and Tommy Starrett; and a brother-in-law, J. C. Wellborn. Surviving to cherish her memory are three brothers, Juble D. Starrett of Birthright, Gayle Starrett and wife, Jessie, of Carrollton, and Doyle Starrett and wife, Helen, of Birthright; a sister, Frances Wellborn of New Boston; numerous nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Doris Starrett of Sulphur Springs; numerous cousins; and a host of friends whose lives she touched. Nephews will serve as pallbearers.
