Frank F. Fowler, adopted son of Beauford and Catherine Bush, was born at Odessa, Nebr., on May 19, 1886, and died at his home near Culbertson, on July 14, 1947, at the age of 61 years, one month and 26 days. He came to the Bush home when he was nine years of age. He attended the rural star School, and was a great lover of outdoor sports. He was united in marriage to Iva Mae West on Feb 15, 1911, at Wauneta, Nebraska. To this union five children were born: Erma Olson of Trenton, Frances Samson of Lingle, Wyo., S-Sgt. Donald of Knoxville, Ky., Eva Hallflick and Dara Lawson of Los Angeles, Calif. He was a devoted husband and a kind and understanding father. He believed in the fatherhood of God and the brotherhood of man. Though he is gone, his record has been made and will remain with us as a lasting treasure. The sunset speaks but feebly of the glories of another day. He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife, four daughters and one son, 12 grandchildren, one adopted brother, George Rhodes of Denver, a number of nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends. Source: Palisade Times, July 25, 1947 Note: Frank's death certificate indicates he was an orphan whose birth parents were unknown. It is unclear whether he was formally adopted by the Bush's; in the 1900 census, he was listed as a "boarder" with Bush's. He is not mentioned in Mrs. Bush's obituary (Mr. Bush's obituary was not found). ----- Funeral services were held for Frank Fowler of Culbertson last Thursday at Eden Church, with burial in the Wauneta Cemetery. Mr. Fowler took his own life by carbon monoxide poisoning on Monday of last week, at his farm home northwest of Culbertson, Nebraska. Mr. Fowler was apparently in good health but had become despondent over his farming operations. Mr. Fowler is survived by his widow, one son and four daughters, one of whom is Mrs. Leonard Oleson of Trenton. Source: Trenton Register, July 25, 1947
