Pekin Daily Times, Tuesday, November 2, 1920 Mrs. D. Slusher Dies Suddenly This Morning Death came suddenly to Mrs. Catherine Slusher at her home, 904 Park Avenue, at eight o'clock. She was up and about her home, performing her customary household duties and was in apparent good health, when she was seized with a stroke of apoplexy and passed away before the physican who had been summoned arrived. Mrs. Slusher was born in Dearborn county, Indiana, Dec. 28, 1859, her maiden name being Catherine Weingardt. She was well and favorable known and had lived in Illinois for forty years, the greater part of that time in this city. She was twice married, her first marriage being to Carson Stover, and his death occurred in 1896. Her second marriage was to Dean Slusher in this city March 10, 1904. She is survived by her husband, the following children: Mrs. Oscar Oats, Louis Stover, Henry Stover, Vernon Stover, and Mrs. Viola Bloomer, of Pekin, and Mrs. Catherine Galvin, of Peoria, her aged mother, Mrs. Mary Weingardt and the following brothers and sisters, Henry Weingardt, Elm Grove; John Weingardt, Batesville, Ind.; Anna Dewers, Aurora, Ind. and Mary Radcliff, Denver, Col. Mrs. Slusher was a consistent member of the St. Paul Evangelical church and a good christian woman. During her long residence in this community she had surrounded herself with many sincere friends who will be shocked and grieved to learn of her sudden and untimely death.
