Bio
BETTY JOYCE LAMBRIGHT was born in Lubbock, Texas on December 25, 1933. She later moved to Longview, Texas with her parents Zodas Lewis and Gladys Ovelle (Holt) Johnson, and her 3 brothers, Harold, Preston, and David. Betty played drums in her high school band and was a devoted Southern Baptist her entire life. She loved the old hymns and gospel music and loved to sing in her church choir. She gave her love of music to her own children and grandchildren as well. Betty was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and went to be with our Lord God on Wednesday, August 24, 2011 after a short illness. Married for 60 years to the love of her life, Billy Joe Lambright, together they raised 4 boys in California. Although they started their married life on July 20, 1951 in Texas, after their fourth son was born, they moved to Baldwin Park, California for better opportunities. Betty was a long-time Sunday School Teacher, Nurse, and Homemaker. Betty loved to collect her favorite things, and had a huge collection of ceramic & wooden chickens and roosters. She also loved all things Disney and all Disney movies. For Betty, Disneyland was truly the happiest place on earth. Betty lived a happy life and liked to be surrounded by her family, extended family, and friends. She loved all types of cuisine and loved to travel back to Texas to visit her 3 brothers and their families. Her brother's children became her children and she is survived by many nieces and nephews as well as their families. During the years her 4 boys grew up, Betty was a fixture at all their ball games, concerts, and church events. Betty was very involved in the boy's education from being a Room Parent, PTA member, and Football Booster Club officer at La Puente High School. Nothing pleased her more than her family. She was very proud of each of her sons. Betty's oldest son, Billy Wayne married Lori (Meyer) raised 2 boys, Billy Lewis (Tina) Lambright and Chris (Bridget) Lambright in the state of Washington. Bill and Lori now live in Keizer, Oregon. Their son Billy and his wife also live in Keizer. Chris and Bridget currently live in Seattle, Washington. Jerry and Susan (Miller) have one son, Jeremy who is married to Carrie (Manchester), as well as Mathew Scott an adopted son. Jeremy and Carrie have 2 children, Logan (8) and Rhianna (4), who are Betty's great-grandchildren, and they all live in Pomona, CA. Jeremy is an EMT and Carrie has just finished nursing school. Matthew is grown and lives on his own now. Richard and his wife, Jennifer (Troy), live in Foothill Ranch, CA. They have 2 children who are currently attending college. Tony is at Saddleback College, and Kaycie just started as a freshman at California State University, Fullerton. Betty and Billy Joe's youngest son, Kenneth, lives close by their Eastvale home. Ken teaches math at Diamond Ranch High School and at Mount San Antonio College, as well as being a Teacher's Union Representative. Ken's partner, T, teaches math at a middle School. Betty will be missed by her family and many friends. No longer will we celebrate Betty's birthday, and the birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas day, but Betty will be in our hearts and in our prayers, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
