Yesterday morning about 5 o'clock, one of the county's pioneer citizens, Ole Olson, passed away at his home in Prairieville after an illness lasting about four weeks. Mr. Olson was one of the county's prominent citizens, having come here when a very small boy. He was also an ex-Confederate soldier and was a member of the Lutheran church. He was about 71 years of age and leaves a number of children, all of whom are well known in the county. The funeral was held some time today from the Lutheran church near Prairieville at which place the body was laid to rest. (Kaufman Post, November 11, 1913, reprinted in the Wills Point Chronicle, November 13, 1913) Ole Olson, Sr., died Monday, Nov 10, 1913, Prairieville, born June 2nd, 1842, Dedermarken, Norway; came to America at age of 11, settling at Prairieville, which has since been his home. At age of 18, joined the Confederate Army and served during the last three years of the Civil War. After honorable discharge, returned to his home. Married on Oct 25, 1871 to Mrs. Annie Albertson (Miss Olena Anderson) at Prairieville. (Mabank Banner, November 27.) 1913
