Alma Smith, age 96 of West Point passed away on September 2, 2014 in La Grange. Alma was born on April 30, 1918 at West Point to Otto Paul Ullmann and Ella Mae Marquart Ullmann. She was a housewife, a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie Valley and the Ladies Aid Group. She married Leon Edward Smith on April 21, 1946 in Prairie Valley. She enjoyed baking homemade bread, cookies and cakes, picking pecans and dewberries, raking leaves, watching Wheel of Fortune and the news. Alma is survived by three daughters; Marie Elaine Seidel and husband Eugene of La Grange, Doris Jeanette Pietsch and husband Ray of La Grange and Arleen Ruth Lackey of Wisconsin, two sons; Fred Wayne Smith and wife Barbara of West Point and Weldon Charles Smith of West Point, ten grandchildren; Gina Marie Seidel Marshall, Shannon Michelle Pietsch McCourt and husband Connor, Brittanie Rae Pietsch, Angie Christine Smith, Chad Smith and wife Kaitlin, Todd Smith and wife Kanyi, Rhonda Michelle Smith, Weldon Smith, Jr. and wife Mendy, Amber Lackey Moreno and husband Billy, Jade Bonet Dodd and husband Wyatt, one sister; Lorine Ullmann Vogel and special niece, Jane Vogel Dyal. She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents and a brother, Werner Ullmann. Visitation is scheduled at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. Funeral services are scheduled at St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie Valley. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery in Prairie Valley. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Lutheran Church in Prairie Valley, the Gardenia Janssen Animal Shelter in La Grange or the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery Association.
