Leona A. Kozisek, 91, of David City, formerly of Silver Creek, died Saturday, Aug. 20, 2011, at david place in David City. Mass of Christian burial will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, August 24, 2011, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek. The Rev. Bill L'Heureux will officiate. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Tuesday, with a 7 p.m. vigil, at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek and 9:30 a.m. until service time Wednesday, also at the church. Interment will be at St. Lawrence Cemetery in Silver Creek. Memorials are suggested to St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Leona A. Kozisek was born Aug. 16, 1920, in Cedar Rapids, to Nekolas and Mary Sauser. She graduated from Cedar Rapids High School in 1939. In 1945, she moved to Omaha to work. She married Jerry Kozisek on April 19, 1950 in Omaha. They lived by Schuyler until 1961 when they moved to Silver Creek where they farmed until 1972. She continued living in Silver Creek until 1993 when she moved to Central City. Leona moved to david place in 2003. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Silver Creek and a member of the altar society. Leona was very good cook. She enjoyed getting to know and visiting with others, playing pitch and Scrabble, and following current events. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by husband Jerry Kozisek, parents, son Donald Kozisek, sister Catherine Hein and sister Julia Goeken.
