Son of Thomas W. Burcham and Mary Atkinson. The following article was published in the Big Spring Daily Herald on Thursday, January 9, 1964: Former City Employe Dies Jesse James Burcham, 67, 902 San Antonio, died Wednesday at 5:15 p.m. in a local hospital after a four and a half a year illness. He had lived in Big Spring since coming here from Hico in 1942, and was an employe of the city's maintenance department for 16 years. He retired five years ago. Mr. Burcham was born July 15, 1896 at Olin and was married to Mary V. Trantham Jan. 14, 1919 at Hico. Services will be held at the Nalley-Pickle Funeral Home chapel at 3 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Kenneth Andress, pastor of the West side Baptist Church, will officiate assisted by Tom H. Tarber, minister of the US 80 West Church of Christ. Burial will be in City Cemetery under the direction of Nalley-Pickle Funeral Home. Survivors include the widow, Mrs. Mary V. Burcham, Big Spring; four sons, Alfred Burcham, Dublin, Anthony Burcham, Phillip Burcham and Louis Burcham, all of Big Spring; one daughter, Mrs. Loyce Jones, Big Spring; three brothers, Foy Burcham and Earl Burcham, Chandler Burcham, and Zack Burcham, Dallas; one sister, Mrs. Winnie Manning, Dallas; 20 grandchildren, and one great-grandchild. Pallbearers will be Frank Kennedy, Bob Brannon, Larry Osborn, Henry Alton Thames, Charles Simmons, Charles Marchbanks and Merl Click.
