Bio

Wife of Joseph Schaf, Sr. Daughter to Joseph Schlesinger and Theresia (Schene) Schlesinger. Theresia Schlesinger, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Schlesinger. was born September 29, 1863, In Moravia, Austria, and died February 3, 1946. She came to the United States when sixteen years old, was married to Joseph Schaf February 11. 1884, and settled on a farm near Rising City, Nebr., where they made their home for thirty years. To this union six children were born, four daughters and two sons. One daughter died in infaney, and one daughter died when three years old. Those surviving are: Mrs. Louisa Weber, Mrs. Anna Alt and Edward Schaf, of Rising City, and Joseph Schaf, of David City; also twenty-one grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. After leaving the farm Mr. and Mrs. Schaf moved to Shelby and made this their home. Mr. Schaf died April 7, 1928. Funeral services, in charge of Rev. John Kean, were held Wednesday, February 6, at Shelby Sacred Heart church and burial made in the Shelby Catholic Cemetery
