Daughter of James & Dorcas Ashmore Evans. Married Joseph Roney. Mother of Louisa Roney. (Following Obit. copied from files of the Moultrie County Heritage center, by Dorothy Butt) Mrs. Jane Roney Dead. Rebecca Jane Evans was born in Tennessee, January 14, 1827. In her childhood the family removed to Indiana and from there to Illinois. She was converted at the age of 12 and joined the C.P. church of which she has remained a faithful member. She was married to Joseph Roney April 7th, 1857. To this union was born one daughter, Mrs. Louisa Crowder, with whom she has made her home. She went to the home of her sister, Mrs. D.M.M. Edwards, a few weeks ago on a visit and while there took sick with kidney trouble and died Friday evening. About four years ago she fell on some toy building blocks and injured her hip bone and has been helpless ever since. She leaves one daughter, a sister and one brother, J.H. Evans. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Geo. Silvus at te C.P. church Saturday afternoon at 2 O'clock. Interment was in the local cemetery.
