Bio

Thomas E. Chovanec, 68, of Fayetteville, Texas, passed away on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, at Grace Care Center in Katy, Texas. He fought a heroic battle against cancer for one year. Thomas was born in La Grange, Texas, on July 8, 1942, the son of the late Ludvik and Juliane (Prasifka) Chovanec. He worked in the insurance industry throughout his entire career and was owner of Fayetteville Insurance Company from 1984 to the present time. Thomas was a member of the Fayetteville Lions Club, Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce, Fayetteville City Council, and St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery Association and Finance Council. In his early years he achieved the rank of Eagle Scout. Thomas also served in the Texas Army National Guard from June 1964 to April 1970. He is survived by his sisters: Barbara Heinsohn and husband, Ted, and Joyce Young and husband, Brett; sister-in-law, Judy Chovanec; one niece; and three nephews. Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Charles Chovanec. *Interment: St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
