Bio

Anderson - Urmy Thora Anderson, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. William Anderson of Yuma, and Charles W. Urmy, Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Charles W. Urmy of Denver, were united in marriage in a double ring ceremony performed in the Ohio Avenue Congregational church, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, January 11. The Rev. W. Carl Rarich officiated. The bride wore a street length dress of powder pink with black and white accessories, and a corsage of pink and white rosebuds. Martha Nowlin, a friend of the young couple, was maid of honor. She wore a street length dress of aqua crepe, with brown and white accessories and a corsage of pink rosebuds. The groom was attended by John Howard, a friend of the young couple. Immediately following the ceremony, a reception was held in the bride's home, with the bride's sisters, Mrs. Constance Proffitt and Elnora and Mildred Anderson as hostesses. At 6:00 p.m., John Howard, the best man was host to a wedding dinner at Boggio's Rotisserie, in downtown Denver, after which the bridal couple left for a honeymoon trip to Colorado Springs. They will reside in Denver, where Charles will continue his studies at Denver University. The bride received her education in the schools of Yuma and Waverly. The groom attended Davenport public schools and St. Ambrose College before entering the arm services. After three and one half years of service, one of which he spent overseas, he joined his parents in Denver. Parents of the groom, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Urmy, honored the young couple with an open house, in their home, from 5 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, January 19.--Yuma Pioneer, Thursday, Jan. 30 1947, Pg. 5 __________ Thora M.
