Dorothy Alles March 7,1923-March 3,2011 Dorothy Marion(Fugate)Alles passed away March 3, at Northern Colorado Medical Inst. in Greeley, Colo.Memorial services will be Aug. 6 at the First Congregational Church in Chadron. Inurnment will be at Floral Lawns Cemetery in North Platte. Born to Arthur Earl and Violet Elvina (Spangler) Fugate on March 7, 1923, in a sod house in Ellsworth,. Dorothy attended school through 8th grade and then remained home to help her parents. She moved to Greeley, Colo. in 1946, where she met and married Willard James Alles and she had three children. They were divorced in 1952 and not long after she moved to North Platte to live with her parents and helped on their farm, while working with her sister Gertie at Chef LaLonnes Buffet. She then went on to manage the North Platte Country Club and moved her family there. She moved her family back to Greeley in 1966, working with a longtime friend A.F.Ray, as a jack-of-all-trades. Later she took over running The Blue Willow Steak House and Lounge. She moved to Crawford in 1981 to live near her sister Barb and family, She later worked at Fort Robinson as head of house keeping. She retired at the age of 80, but continued working in Barb's Antique Store and Ice Cream Parlor. Later she had knee surgery and recovered at home with her loving dog Mandy.While living with her son and family in Greeley, she sustained a fracture in Feb and was unable to recover after the surgery. Survivors include: her sister: Barb (Keith) Pelton-Nixon Crawford; sons James (Ruth) of Greeley, and Robert of San Diego, Calif.; daughter Debbra (Patrick) Heeney of Madison, S.D.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers Aurthur Jr. "Archie", Robert, Buster "Bus" and sisters: Arlene, Doris, and Gertrude. The Chadron Record Aug. 1, 2011
