Bio

GEORGE THOMAS COLLINS George Thomas Collins, son of William and Elizabeth Collins was born December 18, 1881 in Decatur County, Iowa and passed away June 9, 1972 at the age of 90 years, six months and nine days. Mr. Collins was united in marriage to Jane Fullerton September 5, 1903. To this union were born five children, three sons and two daughters. He was preceeded in death by his wife, Jane, and by one son, Harry. On December 2, 1931, Tom was united in marriage to Cecil Boltimore, who survives him along with his sons, James of Cory-don, and Frances of Manley. He is also survived by two daughters, Stella Collins of Leon and Eva McBride of Osceola. And by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, also by a brother, Cager of Weldon. Torn served his country in the first World War, and he was a 53 year member of American Legion Post #68. Funeral services were held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, June 12, 1972 from the Wolf Funeral Home in Corydon with Reverend James Larson officiating. Pallbearers were Daryl Cox, Pearl McMurry, Paul Stoffer, Warner B. Warren, T. C. Poston and Richard Baker. Military rites were presented by the Russell E. Marshall American Legion Post No. 68. Interment was in Corydon Cemetery.
