Bio

Darrall Maurice Carter, oldest man in the state of Utah, died at his home Wednesday, July 19, 2002, at the age of 104. He was born Feb 26, 1898, to James and Eleanor Gough Carter, in the city of Lehi. He married Thelma Fern Hansen in the Salt Lake LDS Temple Dec 14, 1932, and they resided on the Carter farm all their married lives. Darrall is survived by his wife, Fern; five children, Jerry and Elaine Carter, Stockton, UT, JoAnn Muse, Lehi, Carma and Ed Hampton, Lehi, Kenneth and Tori Carter, Lehi, Carol Dale Knapp, Orem; 24 grandchildren; and 56 great-grandchildren. Darrall enjoyed hard work which he learned to do at an early age. He farmed until he was in his 80's and he played the saxophone in Carter's Orchestra for 60 years. He and his wife served at the Provo Temple for 10 years. Darrall was a great example of integrity and honesty, and had a Christ-like love for everyone. People that came to his home were impressed by his love and devotion to his wife, Fern. In behalf of Darrall and his family, we would like to thank the numerous care-takers over the years. Those who served many years were Sue Love-land, Roy Chinchilla, Colby Jacobsen, and Laurie Cambell. Salt Lake Tribune July 22, 2002
