Bio

Alvin L. Turner, of Grand Prairie, passed away Wednesday, July 27, 2011. He was born March 7, 1934 in Kaufman, Texas. He was a US Army veteran from 1957-1958 in Peacetime Post Korea Conflict. Survivors include his wife Billie Turner of Grand Prairie; daughters Phyllis Spurgeon and husband George of Irving, and Rhonda Laffoon and husband Mark of Lantana, Texas; grandchildren Dugan Spurgeon, Travis Spurgeon, Claire Laffoon, and Gabriella Laffoon; sisters Mary Ethel Jordan of Arlington, and Reubine King of Baytown; brother Tommie Turner of Baytown; and sister Renee Cook of Midlothian. Funeral services will be held at 10 AM Saturday, July 30, 2011 at First Baptist Church in Irving with Rev. John Durham officiating. Burial will follow at 2 PM at Kemp Cemetery in Kemp, Texas. The family will receive friends 6-8 PM Friday at the funeral home. Memorial donations may be made to Future Generations of Irving, % First Baptist Church, 403 S. Main St., Irving, TX 75060.
