Bio
Charlotte A. Sousek was born August 4, 1929 near Touhy, NE to Edward J. and Helen (Busek) Stuchlik. She attended a country school west of Weston, NE and graduated from Weston High School in 1946. She attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and obtained her teaching certificate. Charlotte was a school teacher for two years at Indian Hills School and also District #24 near Malmo, NE. On August 31, 1948 she was united in marriage to James D. Sousek at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church in Weston. They lived on a farm west of Malmo for many years until retiring from farming and moving to Wahoo, NE in 1989. Charlotte loved to sew and make quilts and she was a wonderful cook and baker. Her specialty was kolaches. She was also an avid collector of cardinal figurines. Charlotte passed away July 16, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln at the age of 81 years. She had been a parishioner of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and formerly at Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church, Plasi. She belonged to the Plasi Altar Society, serving as past president, the St. Wenceslaus PCCW, a CCD teacher, Saunders County Pork Producers, Malmo American Legion Auxiliary, Saunders County Czech Club, Nebraska Czech Club and the Saunders County Historical Society. Charlotte leaves behind her loving husband and best friend of 62 yrs., James Sr.; children, James Jr. (Roberta) Sousek, Prague, NE, Jeanne (Dwight) Rasp, David City, NE, Julie (Vernon) Slechta, Valparaiso, NE, John (Karen) Sousek, Malmo, NE; grandchildren and spouses, Jeff (Sandy) Sousek, Jennifer (Lance) Vaughn, Donald (Kate) Sousek, Jill Tran, Daniele Slechta, Nathan, Ryan, Alan, Kevin, Justin and Lauren Sousek; great grandchildren, Samantha and Jacob Sousek, Tyler and Kayla Tran, John Ross and Calloway James Vaughn; step great granddaughter, Shaelyn Vaughn; brothers and sister and spouses, Edward (Lorene) Stuchlik, Helen Marie (Rudy) Sloup, Lawrence (Betty) Stuchlik; brothers in law and sisters in law, Joseph (Anastasia) Sousek, Frank Sousek, Annie Divis, Victor (Joyce) Sousek and Beatrice (Lawrence) Rezac; many nieces, nephews and cousins.
