Bio
A Funeral Mass for Vlasta Sassin Baca, 102, of Needville, Texas, will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville, Texas, with Fr. Joseph Phan officiating. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg, Texas. Vlasta passed from this life peacefully on Friday, July 15th at the S.P.J.S.T. Nursing Home in Needville with her family by her side. She was born in Sagerton, Texas, on June 7th, 1909 to Cyrill and Anna Dobecka Sassin. At the age of 17, the family moved to Needville. In 1930, she married Johnnie Baca at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville where she remained a very active member for the rest of her life, having been employed there along with her husband for many years. She was a member of the Altar Society, K.J.Z.T and was an avid helper in the CCD Program for many years. Vlasta is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 52 years, Johnnie Baca; grandson, Jeromy Baca; brothers, George and Bob Sassin; and son-in-law, Sonny Bosak. She is survived by her daughter, Georgie Ann Bosak; son, Bruce Baca and wife, Connie; sister, Della Cowart; 11 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. Arrangements are under the direction of Davis-Greenlawn Funeral Home, Needville, Texas.
